I thought it might be a good idea to launch the blog with a bit of background and an explanation of why I’ve undertaken the effort to write it. Let me start by saying that it is NOT because I’m the world’s most ethical person. I’d like to be, but, hey…I’m human.

In fact, that’s why I thought this blog was necessary. With nearly 25 years in the public relations business and a multitude of networking buddies, I realize that we’re all striving to do the right thing, but need forums where we can question ourselves and our profession, as well as the issues that shape both.

The fact that we’re on the cutting edge of social trends and emerging media on behalf of our clients often puts us in situations where we are breaking new ground…and perhaps…breaking new rules. Because of this, many are asking, “What are the rules?”I’m hoping this blog can address their questions and become a strong voice that advocates the practice of ethical public relations. It’s my goal to post at least once a week, if not more, and I invite you to email me with your comments or an ethical dilemma you or your organization may be facing at blog@utopiacommunications.biz.

Since it’s my goal to get an industry dialogue going, I’ll be tapping into my network from time to time to bring you guest bloggers that can lend some additional insights. If you’d like to add your thoughts as well, email them to me and I’ll do my best to include them.
