Good news today…the state paid family leave bill has passed through the NJ Senate. The vote was slim, and along party lines (dems in favor). It still has a ways to go, and is expected to be before the Assembly Appropriations Committee next Monday and then the full Assembly on March 13.

I think a great deal of credit needs to go to several grass roots lobbying campaigns, like the one spearheaded by Momsrising.org, for accurately explaining the bill and its potential impact on workers and businesses.

Both sides of the issue are doing a full court press, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
